THE FABRIC IN THE NEW DIMENSION

 „Pragmaspace - architecture of the fabric” exhibition of Justina Stosik and Anna Kowalczyk in the SPOT gallery.

A paravane as the relief spread in the steel frames, lamps hanging in mid air as bright cumulus clouds, pillows made from bands of material uptight into the whole by the zip fastener and spatial screens with geometrical patterns are the heroes of the „Pragmaspace - architecture of the fabric” exhibition. The vernissage of Justyna Stosik and Anna Kowalczyk exhibition from the Studio of the Fabric in Poznan held place in the SPOT gallery,  September 9.

„We touch the fabrics every day. Under our fingers sneak tens of delicate and rough, thin and fat, patterned or smooth meters of fabrics. The traditional perception of the fabric makes the two-dimensional substance, and after all it has additional, third dimension” –say Justyna Stosik and Anna Kowalczyk from the Studio of Fabric in Poznan.
The audience who is accustomed to the decorative and functional values of the fabric, can be surprised by the application of the fabric completely in the new context. „We try to question the routine usage of the fabric and to change its perception. We want, that the viewer could change the traditional thinking about  the fabric which is usually used in conventional way, not reflecting its full possibilities. Thanks to the objects which we create, we want to show that the fabric can give the pulse for the interior, can change it and enrich”. – say the artists.
The fabric gains the new meaning in the Studio of Fabric. During the exhibition, the audience will be able to see that the fabric equipped into the well-thought-out construction starts the new life in all accessible dimensions. Presented objects place themselves on the borderland of the useful objects and sculptures. „Our fabric waves, meanders as the ribbon, stretches, pulls, filters and geometrizes  the space. It gives the interior the rhythm and the direction, embraces, divides, accents and arranges the space. Our activities lead to master the shapeless and infinite fabric". – say Justyna Stosik and Anna Kowalczyk, explaining their work.
Artists:
Justyna Stosikand Anna Kowalczyk - graduates of the Interior Decoration and The Industrial Design Faculty of Academy of Arts in Poznan. Before they joined the forces, Anna designed the furniture and interiors, while Justyna was responsible for the packaging designing. They established the “Studio of the Fabric”, because they are delighted by the unlimited decorative possibilities of the fabrics, the wide range of their application and the fact, that through the usage of the fabrics, every interior can go through the incredible metamorphoses. Their latest projects convince that the fabric is also the superb designing material.
